IN-STUDIO MOVEMENT PRACTICE
Weekly classes, guided practice, and open studio time for adults who want to build strength, mobility, coordination,
balance, awareness, and skill, without reducing movement to fitness alone.
The Movement Standard is not a gym class, bootcamp, yoga studio, or traditional fitness program. We are an education based studio that expands beyond simply getting a workout.
Our in-studio classes are different containers within one larger movement practice. We work with strength, mobility, coordination, balance, floorwork, handbalancing, rhythm, awareness, and skill, not as separate categories, but as connected parts of a more complete physical education.
Each class has a clear theme, while the specific skills and material rotate week to week. Students always know what we’re exploring, while the practice continues to evolve over time.
Where Should I Start?
New to The Movement Standard? You don’t need to know exactly where you fit yet. There is no single doorway into this practice. Some people begin through strength, mobility, floorwork, handstands, balance, or simply wanting to feel more capable in their body. Our classes are organized around clear themes so you can start where it feels most accessible and let the practice connect over time.
-
Best first class for most new students. Adaptable to all levels, from beginner to advanced.
A broad introduction to the core elements of movement practice: strength, mobility, coordination, balance, floorwork, and body awareness. This class helps students build a base while learning how the different pieces of the practice connect.
-
Best for students who want to build usable strength, active mobility, joint capacity, and control.
This class develops the physical qualities that support the broader movement practice. We work with strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, and control so the body becomes more prepared for floorwork, handstands, skill work, and long-term physical development.
-
Best for students who want to develop handstands, inversion confidence, balance, shoulder capacity, and body awareness.
This class builds the foundations of handstand practice through progressive drills, alignment work, strength, mobility, entries, exits, and balance development. No handstand experience is required.
More Ways To Practice
GROUND MOVEMENT
SOFT ACROBATICS
Progressive acrobatic skill work, spatial awareness, confidence, coordination, and playful problem-solving.
Floorwork, locomotion, crawling, rolling, transitions, and moving in relationship to the ground.
INDIVIDUAL COACHING & PROGRAMMING
OPEN PRACTICE
For students who want a more personalized path, individual coaching helps clarify what to work on, how to progress, and how to connect group classes with a long-term practice.
Self-directed practice time for students to explore, repeat, refine, and connect the work at their own pace.
How The Practice Develops
Movement practice develops in layers.
We often begin by isolating a specific quality, skill, or pattern so it can be understood. From there, we integrate it into larger movement contexts. Over time, the work becomes more adaptable, expressive, and available in real movement. You do not need to master everything before you begin. The practice develops through exposure, repetition, attention, and connection.
We isolate to understand. We integrate to connect. We improvise so the work becomes usable, responsive, and alive.
