MOVEMENT COACHING | PERSONAL TRAINING

A more personal path for building strength, mobility, skill, confidence, and a better relationship with your body.

Many people come to personal training looking for better exercises, harder workouts, or a more effective plan. But often, what they actually need is a more intelligent relationship with their body.

At The Movement Standard, personal coaching takes a holistic, systems-based approach to physical practice. We do not look at strength, mobility, coordination, balance, skill, pain, limitation, and confidence as separate issues. We look at how they relate, how they influence one another, and how they can be developed into a more capable whole.

Coaching is not only about working harder. It is about learning how to move, how to practice, how to build capacity, and how to develop a body that is strong, adaptable, coordinated, responsive, and available for the life you want to live.

We use training as a doorway into something larger: a more capable physical life.

Who is this for?

Personal coaching may be a good fit if you:

  • Want to improve health and vitality in a holistic way

  • Want individual guidance before joining group classes

  • Are returning to movement after time away

  • Want to build strength and mobility without feeling beat up

  • Have specific skill based goals like handstands, floor work, bodyweight strength, or better coordination

  • Are working around pain, stiffness, fear, or uncertainty

  • Want a more thoughtful alternative to conventional personal training

  • Need accountability, structure, and a clear process

A few key areas our coaching supports.

Three people practicing yoga indoors on a wooden floor, one person is upside down in a handstand with their head near the floor and legs in the air, while the other two are standing and observing, one man with a beard and a woman with blond hair, in a room with a wall that has a partial logo or text.
A man exercising indoors on a wooden floor, squatting with one hand on the floor and the other hand reaching towards a tennis ball, with a mirror and shelves in the background.
A man and a dog practicing yoga together in a studio, with the man in a yoga pose and the dog on the floor, both focused on their activity.
A man with a beard is hanging from gymnastic rings attached to the ceiling in a fitness studio. A trainer or instructor is standing nearby, possibly coaching. A person with a short haircut and gray shirt is sitting on the floor in the foreground, observing the activity.

Develop usable range of motion, joint control, and the ability to move with more freedom and confidence. For individuals working with pain, injury history, or physical limitations, we help create a more thoughtful path forward.

Developing foundational strength

Improving mobility and ease

Build useful, adaptable strength through bodyweight training, rings, weights, and progressive strength work.

Opening to a more aware body

Learning new skills

Develop greater body awareness, coordination, and confidence through attentive practice. Learn to sense, organize, and trust your body more clearly in movement and in daily life.

There are very few movement skills we cannot help you develop. From handstands, floor work, locomotion, balance, and coordination to more specific personal goals, we help you build the strength, awareness, and foundations needed to progress with clarity.

Our Process

1) Start with a consultation

We begin by learning about your goals, health history, current capacity, and what kind of support you need.

2) Get matched with the right coach

Once we have a detailed assessment and understand the direction we’ll build out a guided coaching program to help direct the process

Based on your needs, we help determine which coach and coaching path will be the best fit.

3) Begin your coaching plan and process

Coaching Paths

  • For newer students who want to build strength, mobility, coordination, and confidence from the ground up.

Rather than rushing into advanced skills, this path builds the physical base that makes deeper practice possible: strength, joint preparation, body awareness, balance, rhythm, and the ability to learn through movement.

  • For students who want to build a more capable, adaptable body, not just through exercise, but through a deeper understanding of strength, range, control, and ease.

This path supports the development of usable strength, active mobility, joint preparation, and the ability to move with more confidence in daily life and practice.

  • If there is a movement skill you want to develop, we can help you build the path toward it.

From handstands, floor work, locomotion, rings, and bodyweight strength to more personal or specific movement goals, we approach skill development holistically, building the strength, mobility, coordination, awareness, and patience needed for real progress.

  • For kids and teens who need more than early sport specialization.

This path develops the general physical qualities that are often missing in modern youth activity: strength, mobility, coordination, balance, rhythm, body awareness, confidence, and creative problem-solving through movement.

  • For students who want a clear plan for what to practice between sessions or on their own.

This path includes personalized programming, progression planning, and support in organizing strength, mobility, skill work, and recovery into a sustainable long-term practice.
