Constructing Movement

Two-Day Movement Immersion

October 17-18, 2026 @ The Movement Standard, Dallas

Constructing Movement

The Architecture of Practice

Before techniques. Before shapes. Before style. We are setting the conditions so that Movement emerges

Overview

Constructing Movement is a weekend long inquiry into how the parts of movement come together through attention, sensation, support, strength, rhythm, timing, adaptability, and relationship. Rather than simply collecting more drills, we’ll explore how movement is built from the inside out.

Movement is treated not as a fixed shape to achieve, but as a living structure that can be assembled, refined, and reorganized through practice.

What We’ll Explore

The immersion is structured around a developing practice rather than performance or outcomes alone, and embodiedd understanding rather than memorization or techniques or forms.

You can expect to work with:

Foundational Patterns
Exploring squatting, crawling, reaching, folding, balancing, hanging, and transitioning as building blocks of movement

Groundwork & Locomotion
Learning how support, weight shift, rhythm, and orientation allow movement to travel through the floor

Skill Construction
Breaking down how skills are built through attention, repetition, variation, constraint, and progressive complexity

Uncommon Strength
Developing strength as usable structure; strength that supports movement, adaptability, and relationship to gravity

Partner & Object Work
Using interaction, timing, touch, and external feedback to reveal how movement organizes in real time

Stillness & Integration
Creating space for reflection, nervous system regulation, and the consolidation of learning.

Who This Immersion Is For

This weekend is well-suited for:

  • Movers interested in how skill and practice are actually built

  • Practitioners wanting to move beyond random drills and isolated exercises

  • Teachers and coaches looking to better understand progression, structure, and embodied learning

  • Anyone who wants a clearer relationship between strength, mobility, coordination, and awareness

No specific movement background is required, a willingness to explore, build, and pay attention is more important than experience.

Structure & Flow

Each day weaves together:

  • Guided individual exploration

  • Foundational movement patterns

  • Partner and group-based movement games

  • Strength, mobility, and skill-building constraints

  • Periods of stillness, reflection, and integration

The weekend is designed to feel focused, spacious, and grounded, allowing understanding to arise through direct experience and become refined through practice
